Large scale model of neocortical slice in vitro exhibiting persistent gamma - Tomsett et al 2014

Large-scale network model of a neocortical slice exhibiting persistent gamma oscillations, written for the VERTEX simulator (a Matlab simulator for modelling spatially realistic LFPs from spiking neural networks containing simplified compartmental neuron models). The model contains ~175 000 neurons arranged into 4 layers (layer 1 is empty, layers 2/3 combined). Anatomy is based on the connectivity data in Binzegger et al. 2004. Neuron firing dynamics are based on the dynamics of the neurons described in Traub et al. 2005, implemented as AdEx neurons with a small number of passive dendritic compartments. The model size is approximately the same size as a comparison experimental cortical slice. The simulation also includes a virtual Utah array, so calculates LFPs at 100 locations across the space of the model. Comparison experimental data is available on figshare: http://autap.se/figshare
